Wharton Tigers (Wharton, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Columbia Roughnecks (West Columbia, TX), 51-50 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Wharton upgrades its record to 6-6 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Industrial (Vanderbilt, TX) to play the Cobras in a non-league bout on Friday, December 8. The Cobras come into the bout with a record of 2-4. Industrial lost 67-44 in their recent non-league bout against Bay City (Bay City, TX)

Next up, the Roughnecks play the Sealy Tigers (Sealy, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 12. Columbia will attempt to upgrade on its 5-6 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 4-4 record after their 62-29 non-league loss to La Vernia (La Vernia, TX).
