The Mountain Mission Challengers basketball team (Grundy, VA), was nudged 78-75 in Friday's non-league battle with the host Union Bears (Big Stone Gap, VA)
The Bears now possess a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Sullivan East for a non-league battle on Saturday, December 9. Union will confront a Patriots team coming off a 65-61 non-league win over Daniel Boone (Gray, TN). The Patriots record now stands at 5-3.
The Challengers (5-3) will now prepare for their battle against Appalachian Christian HomeSchool (Abingdon, VA). The Warriors come into the non-league battle with a 0-6 record. In their last battle, Appalachian Christian HomeSchool was nudged by KACHEA (Kingsport, TN), 68-29, in a league battle.
