In Friday's non-league match, the visiting James Monroe Mavericks basketball team scored a good 71-52 triumph over the Bland County Bears.

In their next game, the Mavericks face the Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA) in a non-league match, on Saturday, December 10. James Monroe will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Green Waves enter the match with a 2-0 record after their 55-28 non-league win over Giles (Pearisburg, VA).
