Damascus Hornets (Damascus, MD) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Wheaton Knights (Silver Spring, MD), 53-44 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Damascus upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Hornets host Poolesville (Poolesville, MD) to clash with the Falcons in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, December 13. The Falcons come into the challenge with a record of 1-1. Poolesville lost 57-53 in their recent league challenge against Clarksburg (Clarksburg, MD)

Next up, the Knights play the KIPP College Prep Panthers (Washington, DC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, December 28. Wheaton will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record.
