Menchville Monarchs (Newport News, VA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Hermitage Panthers (Richmond, VA), 54-51 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Menchville upgrades its record to 4-1 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to Gloucester (Gloucester, VA) to play the Dukes in a Peninsula bout on Tuesday, December 12. The Dukes come into the bout with a record of 0-6. Gloucester lost 77-13 in their recent non-league bout against Nansemond River (Suffolk, VA)

Next up, the Panthers play the Patrick Henry Patriots (Ashland, VA) in a non-league bout, on Monday, December 11. Hermitage will attempt to upgrade on its 2-1 season record. The Patriots come into the bout with a 3-2 record after their 57-48 league win over Armstrong (Richmond, VA).
