Holy Names Monarchs (Oakland, CA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Bentley Phoenix (Lafayette, CA), 30-25 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Holy Names upgrades its record to 5-12 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to Making Waves Academy (Richmond, CA) to play the Marlins in a Bay Counties - General bout on Friday, February 3. The Marlins come into the bout with a record of 3-14. Making Waves Academy lost 2-0 in their recent league bout against Contra Costa Christian (Walnut Creek, CA)

Next up, the Phoenix play the Redwood Christian Eagles (San Lorenzo, CA) in a Bay Counties - East bout, on Friday, February 3. Bentley will attempt to upgrade on its 1-11 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 13-6 record after their 77-32 league win over College Prep (Oakland, CA).
