The Newaygo Lions basketball team scored 68 points and limited the visiting Hesperia Panthers to 65 in the Lions non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Lions now possess a 6-8 record. They play next when they travel to Hart for a non-league game on Monday, February 3. Newaygo will play a Pirates team coming off a 56-45 league loss to North Muskegon (North Muskegon, MI). The Pirates record now stands at 9-7.

With the loss, Hesperia falls to 6-13 on the campaign. The Panthers host Ravenna (Ravenna, MI) to play the Bulldogs in a Western Michigan Lakes - Rivers game on Thursday, February 6. The Bulldogs go into the game with a record of 7-9. Ravenna lost 54-49 in their recent non-league game against West Michigan Aviation Academy (Grand Rapids, MI)
