The Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS) basketball nipped the visiting Heritage Academy Patriots (Columbus, MS), 40-37 in Friday's non-league test.
The Cougars (29-4) will now prepare for their test against Pillow Academy (Greenwood, MS). The Mustangs go into the non-league test with a 9-4 record. In their last test, Pillow Academy got by Leake Academy (Madden, MS), 55-43, in a non-league test.
The Patriots now own a 9-6 record. They play next when they travel to Leake Academy for a non-league test on Saturday, February 11. Heritage Academy will encounter a Rebels squad coming off a 55-43 non-league loss to Pillow Academy (Greenwood, MS). The Rebels record now stands at 31-5.
