The Newman Fighting Cardinals basketball team scored 48 points and held the host Rosholt Hornets to 41 in the Fighting Cardinals non-league triumph on Saturday.
The Fighting Cardinals now sport a 7-15 record. They put it on the line next when they host Wausau East for a non-league contest on Tuesday, February 13. Newman will meet a Lumberjacks team coming off a 62-52 league loss to Merrill (Merrill, WI). The Lumberjacks record now stands at 7-16.
The Hornets (5-16) will now prepare for their contest against Iola-Scandinavia (Iola, WI). The Thunderbirds enter the non-league contest with a 0-23 record. In their last contest, Iola-Scandinavia was nudged by Shiocton (Shiocton, WI), 52-38, in a league contest.
