The crowd at Monday's league challenge between the Newport Tigers (Newport, NH) and the visiting Hopkinton Hawks (Contoocook, NH), observed Newport's basketball team edge Hopkinton by a margin of 71-67.

The Tigers (14-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Mascoma (Canaan, NH). The Royals come into the Division III challenge with a 15-1 record. In their last challenge, Mascoma edged White Mountains (Whitefield, NH), 62-55, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Hawks battle the Stevens Cardinals (Claremont, NH) in a Division III challenge, on Thursday, February 13. Hopkinton will attempt to better on its 7-9 season record. The Cardinals come into the challenge with a 5-11 record after their 53-41 non-league win over Winnisquam (Tilton, NH).
