In Monday's non-league contest, the host Independence Tigers basketball team scored a close 56-52 triumph over the Port Allen Pelicans.
The Tigers (17-15) will now prepare for their contest against Pope John Paul II (Slidell, LA). The Jaguars go into the 2A District 9 contest with a 10-12 record.
In their next game, the Pelicans battle the Breaux Bridge Tigers (Breaux Bridge, LA) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, February 11. Port Allen will attempt to better on its 16-17 season record. The Tigers go into the contest with a 11-21 record after their 40-25 league loss to Cecilia (Cecilia, LA).
