The Lawrence Free State Firebirds (Lawrence, KS) basketball nipped the visiting Shawnee Mission East Lancers (Shawnee Mission, KS), 47-43 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Firebirds (11-6) will now prepare for their test against Lawrence (Lawrence, KS). The Lions go into the non-league test with a 13-4 record. In their last test, Lawrence got by Olathe North (Olathe, KS), 49-38, in a non-league test.

The Lancers now own a 7-10 record. They play next when they host Shawnee Mission West for a non-league test on Friday, February 17. Shawnee Mission East will encounter a Vikings squad coming off a 56-45 non-league loss to Mill Valley (Shawnee, KS). The Vikings record now stands at 5-12.
