In Tuesday's non-league match, the host Steele Comets basketball team scored a tight 61-55 triumph over the Vermilion Sailors.
In their next game, the Comets face the Avon Eagles (Avon, OH) in a Southwestern match, on Friday, February 17. Steele will attempt to move on its 8-13 season record. The Eagles enter the match with a 15-7 record after their 52-47 non-league win over Lorain (Lorain, OH).
With the defeat, Vermilion falls to 5-18 on the campaign. The Sailors travel to Perkins (Sandusky, OH) to confront the Pirates in a Sandusky Bay - Lake battle on Friday, February 17.
