The Woodlands Highlanders (The Woodlands, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Victoria West Warriors (Victoria, TX), 9-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Highlanders now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Brandeis for a non-league challenge on Friday, February 16. The Woodlands will battle a Broncos squad coming off a 6-2 league win over Marshall (San Antonio, TX). The Broncos record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, Victoria West falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Plano (Plano, TX) to battle the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Friday, February 16. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Plano lost 8-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Summer Creek (Houston, TX)
