In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Valley Christian Eagles basketball team scored a tight 74-68 triumph over the Drummond Trojans.
In their next game, the Eagles meet the Lincoln Lynx (Lincoln, MT) in a non-league match, on Saturday, February 17. Valley Christian will attempt to move on its 10-10 season record. The Lynx enter the match with a 16-2 record after their 51-33 non-league win over Seeley-Swan (Seeley Lake, MT).
With the defeat, Drummond moves to 18-3 on the year.
Game Summary
Round 2 District Tournament. Similar to tourney round 1, Valley again came out red hot shooting five 3's in the 1st quarter! Two by Zeke Glidewell, 2 by Stoltzfus and 1 by McKethen! Both teams offenses looked crisp and productive throughout the game. Valley (#4 seed) showed up to fight the goliath #1 seed Trojans. The Eagles showed no sign of backing down to the super talented Trojan team. Valley continued leveraging their depth in shooters, but also edged out the opponents in both offensive and defensive rebounds. Foul trouble became a factor for both teams as Drummond's James and Phillips spent some 2nd half time on the bench. Valley's foul trouble with Stoltzfus, Fisher and Karvandi. Valley continued pounding the stone while at a point in the 2nd Q had a 14 point lead. Valley held on with the upset win! Eagles leaders: McKethen with 15, Zeke Glidewell with 13, Caleb Glidewell with 13 and Karvandi 13 points plus 11 boards! Trojans leaders: Parke with 23 and Phillips with 20.
