College Station Cougars (College Station, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Vandegrift Vipers (Austin, TX), 7-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they host Boyd for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 18. College Station will battle a Broncos squad coming off a 9-3 non-league win over Incarnate Word Academy (Houston, TX). The Broncos record now stands at 4-1.

With the loss, Vandegrift falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Vipers travel to Saginaw (Saginaw, TX) to battle the Rough Riders in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 18. The Rough Riders enter the challenge with a record of 2-4. Saginaw lost 8-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Dawson (Pearland, TX)
