Nixon Mustangs (Laredo, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Hidalgo Pirates (Hidalgo, TX), 11-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Edinburg North for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 18. Nixon will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 7-4 non-league loss to Pace (Brownsville, TX). The Cougars record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Hidalgo falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Pioneer (Mission, TX) to battle the Diamondbacks in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 18. The Diamondbacks enter the challenge with a record of 5-0. Pioneer won 2-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Weslaco (Weslaco, TX)
