Loyd Star Hornets (Brookhaven, MS) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Salem Wildcats (Tylertown, MS), 6-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now sport a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Vicksburg for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, February 20. Loyd Star will face a Gators squad coming off a 16-0 non-league loss to Wesson (Wesson, MS). The Gators record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Salem falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to West Marion (Foxworth, MS) to face the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 17. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. West Marion lost 10-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Bryant (Irvington, AL)
