Taylorsville Tartars (Taylorsville, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Northeast Jones Tigers (Laurel, MS), 5-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Tartars now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they host West Jones for a 5A Region 5 challenge on Saturday, February 18.

With the loss, Northeast Jones falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Mize (Mize, MS) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 18. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 1-1. Mize won 17-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Mendenhall (Mendenhall, MS)
