In Saturday's non-league outing, the visiting Life Waxahachie Mustangs softball team scored a close 12-6 win over the Hubbard Jaguars.
Coming up next, the Mustangs battle the Corsicana Tigers (Corsicana, TX) in a non-league outing, on Tuesday, February 22. Life Waxahachie will attempt to upgrade on its 2-1 season record. The Tigers enter the outing with a 1-1 record after their 15-0 non-league loss to Fossil Ridge (Keller, TX).
The Jaguars (0-1) will now prepare for their outing against Port Aransas (Port Aransas, TX). The Marlins enter the non-league outing with a 1-4 record. In their last outing, Port Aransas was routed by Taft (Taft, TX), 16-1, in a non-league outing.
Game Summary
Even though Life Waxahachie Mustangs gave up five runs in the third inning, they still defeated Hubbard 12-6 on Saturday. The offensive onslaught by Hubbard was led by #21, #11, #12, #9, and #19, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Life Waxahachie Mustangs collected seven hits and Hubbard had three.
Life Waxahachie Mustangs tallied five runs in the second inning. Allie Brown, Nevaeh Esparza, Jayhda Joiner all drove in runs in the frame.
Layla Villalon led things off in the circle for Life Waxahachie Mustangs. The righthander pitched for two innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two and walking zero.
#19 led things off on the rubber for Hubbard. The hurler went 2 1/3 innings, allowing 12 runs on seven hits and striking out four.
Emalie Ortiz went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Life Waxahachie Mustangs in hits.
Hubbard was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
