South Spartans (Torrance, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host La Serna Lancers (Whittier, CA), 5-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Foothill for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 19. South will battle a Knights squad coming off a 4-0 non-league win over Godinez Fundamental (Santa Ana, CA). The Knights record now stands at 3-0.

With the loss, La Serna falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The Lancers host Sonora (La Habra, CA) to battle the Raiders in a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 24. The Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 3-4. Sonora won 15-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Valencia (Placentia, CA)
