In Friday's league outing, the Merryville Panthers (Merryville, LA) basketball squad overwhelmed the host Basile Bearcats (Basile, LA), by a count of 74-28.

The Panthers (13-12) will now prepare for their outing against Oberlin (Oberlin, LA). The Tigers go into the 1A District 5 outing with a 2-25 record. In their last outing, Oberlin was crushed by East Beauregard (DeRidder, LA), 82-59, in a league outing.

The Bearcats now hold a 3-16 record. They play next when they travel to Gueydan for a 1A District 5 outing on Tuesday, February 6. Basile will clash with a Bears squad coming off a 52-48 non-league win over Delcambre (Delcambre, LA). The Bears record now stands at 5-14.
