GMG Wolverines (Garwin, IA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Belle Plaine Plainsmen (Belle Plaine, IA), 61-56 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, GMG upgrades its record to 7-10 on the campaign. The Wolverines host North Tama (Traer, IA) to play the Red Hawks in a Iowa Star bout on Saturday, February 3. The Red Hawks come into the bout with a record of 7-10. North Tama lost 57-45 in their recent league bout against Don Bosco (Gilbertville, IA)

Next up, the Plainsmen play the Sigourney Savages (Sigourney, IA) in a South Iowa Cedar bout, on Saturday, February 3. Belle Plaine will attempt to upgrade on its 14-6 season record. The Savages come into the bout with a 12-5 record after their 45-34 league win over H-L-V (Victor, IA).
