In Tuesday's non-league outing, the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars (Shawnee Mission, KS) basketball squad felled the visiting Lawrence Free State Firebirds (Lawrence, KS), by a margin of 58-41.

The Cougars (19-0) will now prepare for their outing against Olathe South (Olathe, KS). The Falcons go into the Sunflower outing with a 12-5 record. In their last outing, Olathe South thwarted Shawnee Mission South (Shawnee Mission, KS), 73-53, in a non-league outing.

The Firebirds now own a 4-14 record. They play next when they travel to Mill Valley for a non-league outing on Friday, February 23. Lawrence Free State will clash with a Jaguars squad coming off a 63-60 non-league win over Olathe North (Olathe, KS). The Jaguars record now stands at 14-5.
