The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns softball squad scored 6 runs and limited the visiting Lufkin Panthers to 4 in the Longhorns non-league triumph on Thursday.

With the triumph, Hamshire-Fannett improves its record to 5-3 on the year. The Longhorns host Hardin-Jefferson (Sour Lake, TX) to face the Hawks in a 4A Region III District 19 contest on Thursday, February 20. The Hawks enter the contest with a record of 4-4. Hardin-Jefferson won 9-3 in their recent non-league contest against Kelly Catholic (Beaumont, TX)

The Panthers now hold a 4-2 record. They play next when they host Bridge City for a non-league contest on Friday, February 21. Lufkin will face a Cardinals squad coming off a 5-0 non-league loss to Port Neches-Groves (Port Neches, TX). The Cardinals record now stands at 4-3.
