The Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars (Shawnee Mission, KS) basketball nipped the host Lawrence Free State Firebirds (Lawrence, KS), 73-66 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Cougars (12-7) will now prepare for their test against Olathe South (Olathe, KS). The Falcons go into the Sunflower test with a 13-7 record. In their last test, Olathe South got by Shawnee Mission South (Shawnee Mission, KS), 41-32, in a non-league test.

The Firebirds now own a 11-8 record. They play next when they host Mill Valley for a non-league test on Friday, February 24. Lawrence Free State will encounter a Jaguars squad coming off a 47-41 non-league win over Olathe North (Olathe, KS). The Jaguars record now stands at 14-5.
