Azusa Aztecs (Azusa, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Rio Hondo Prep Kares (Arcadia, CA), 12-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Aztecs now own a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they host Arroyo for a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 23. Azusa will battle a Knights squad coming off a 9-8 non-league loss to Sierra Vista (Baldwin Park, CA). The Knights record now stands at 1-3.

With the loss, Rio Hondo Prep falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Kares travel to Polytechnic (Pasadena, CA) to battle the Panthers in a Prep challenge on Tuesday, February 28. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Polytechnic won 9-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Gabrielino (San Gabriel, CA)
