Emerson Mavericks (McKinney, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Wylie East Raiders (Wylie, TX), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Plano for a non-league challenge on Friday, February 23. Emerson will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 7-4 non-league loss to Victoria West (Victoria, TX). The Wildcats record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Wylie East falls to 3-2 on the campaign. The Raiders travel to Lewisville (Lewisville, TX) to battle the Farmers in a non-league challenge on Friday, February 23. The Farmers enter the challenge with a record of 7-3. Lewisville lost 10-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Midway (Waco, TX)
