In Saturday's non-league match, the host Sweetwater Mustangs softball team scored a tight 6-5 victory over the Floydada Whirlwinds.

The Mustangs (3-3) will now prepare for their match against Merkel (Merkel, TX). The Badgers go into the 3A Region I District 6 match with a 1-0 record. In their last match, Merkel tipped Seminole (Seminole, TX), 6-5, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Whirlwinds battle the Borger Bulldogs (Borger, TX) in a non-league match, on Saturday, February 22. Floydada will attempt to better on its 8-4 season record. The Bulldogs go into the match with a 1-13 record after their 13-3 non-league loss to Sweetwater (Sweetwater, TX).
