The crowd at Saturday's non-league bout between the Merkel Badgers (Merkel, TX) and the visiting Seminole Indians (Seminole, TX), observed Merkel's softball team get by Seminole by a tally of 6-5.

The Badgers (1-0) will now prepare for their bout against Sweetwater (Sweetwater, TX). The Mustangs go into the 3A Region I District 6 bout with a 3-3 record. In their last bout, Sweetwater tipped Floydada (Floydada, TX), 6-5, in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Indians battle the Estacado Matadors (Lubbock, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, February 25. Seminole will attempt to advance on its 6-4 season record. The Matadors go into the bout with a 3-5 record after their 24-4 non-league loss to Muleshoe (Muleshoe, TX).
