Columbia Roughnecks (West Columbia, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears (Orange, TX), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Roughnecks now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host Pasadena Memorial for a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 23. Columbia will face a Mavericks squad coming off a 18-3 non-league loss to Dobie (Houston, TX). The Mavericks record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Little Cypress-Mauriceville falls to 5-3 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Danbury (Danbury, TX) to face the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Friday, February 24. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 5-5. Danbury won 6-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Shadow Creek (Pearland, TX)
