Yuma Catholic Shamrocks (Yuma, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Brawley Wildcats (Brawley, CA), 7-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Shamrocks now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Odyssey Institute for a 3A West challenge on Monday, March 4.

With the loss, Brawley falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Carlsbad (Carlsbad, CA) to battle the Lancers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, February 27. The Lancers enter the challenge with a record of 1-1. Carlsbad won 4-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Sage Creek (Carlsbad, CA)
