Port Neches-Groves Indians (Port Neches, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Goose Creek Memorial Patriots (Baytown, TX), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.
The Indians now own a 7-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Vidor for a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 24. Port Neches-Groves will battle a Pirates squad coming off a 19-8 non-league win over West Brook (Beaumont, TX). The Pirates record now stands at 3-5.
With the loss, Goose Creek Memorial falls to 5-5 on the campaign. The Patriots host La Porte (La Porte, TX) to battle the Bulldogs in a 5A Region III District 22 challenge on Friday, February 25. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 2-1.
