Bridge City Cardinals (Bridge City, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Kountze Lions (Kountze, TX), 3-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 9-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Diboll for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 25. Bridge City will face a Lumberjacks squad coming off a 0-0 non-league Spring Hill (Longview, TX). The Lumberjacks record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Kountze falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Liberty (Liberty, TX) to face the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 2. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 10-4. Liberty won 7-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Port Neches-Groves (Port Neches, TX)
