In Saturday's non-league game, the host Sylmar Spartans baseball team scored a tight 5-1 victory over the Providence Pioneers.
The Spartans (1-1) will now prepare for their game against Birmingham (Lake Balboa, CA). The Patriots go into the non-league game with a 3-3 record. In their last game, Birmingham tipped Dos Pueblos (Goleta, CA), 8-5, in a non-league game.
The Pioneers (0-4) will now prepare for their game against Flintridge Prep (La Canada, CA). The Wolves go into the Prep game with a 3-3 record. In their last game, Flintridge Prep tipped Chadwick (Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA), 8-2, in a league game.
