Gatesville Hornets (Gatesville, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Valley Mills Eagles (Valley Mills, TX), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 10-5 record. They take the field next when they host Robinson for a 4A Region III District 23 challenge on Friday, March 17.

With the loss, Valley Mills falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Eagles host Reicher Catholic (Waco, TX) to battle the Cougars in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 3. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 1-1.
