In Saturday's non-league contest, the Kaplan Pirates (Kaplan, LA) softball team the host Port Barre Red Devils (Port Barre, LA), by a margin of 14-12.
With the triumph, Kaplan moves its record to 1-0 on the year. The Pirates travel to St. Martinville (St. Martinville, LA) to play the Tigers in a 3A District 6 contest on Thursday, March 9. The Tigers come into the contest with a record of 1-2.
