California High School Softball - Escondido holds off Clairemont

Escondido Cougars (Escondido, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Clairemont Chieftains (San Diego, CA), 8-6 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 3-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Otay Ranch for a non-league challenge on Monday, February 28. Escondido will battle a Mustangs squad coming off a 9-7 non-league win over Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA). The Mustangs record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Clairemont falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Chieftains travel to Bonita Vista (Chula Vista, CA) to battle the Barons in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 1. The Barons enter the challenge with a record of 4-2. Bonita Vista lost 7-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Del Norte (San Diego, CA)
