Northwest Rankin Cougars (Brandon, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Hernando Tigers (Hernando, MS), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Brandon for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 1. Northwest Rankin will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 8-7 non-league win over Madison Central (Madison, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-0.

With the loss, Hernando falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Tigers host Center Hill (Olive Branch, MS) to battle the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Monday, February 28. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Center Hill lost 13-0 in their recent non-league challenge against South Panola (Batesville, MS)
