Nixon Mustangs (Laredo, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Weslaco East Wildcats (Weslaco, TX), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 1-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Edinburg for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 26. Nixon will face a Bobcats squad coming off a 9-2 non-league loss to United (Laredo, TX). The Bobcats record now stands at 5-5.

With the loss, Weslaco East falls to 6-4 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Zapata (Zapata, TX) to face the Hawks in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 26. The Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 1-3. Zapata lost 9-2 in their recent non-league challenge against United South (Laredo, TX)
