East Ascension Spartans (Gonzales, LA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting John Curtis Christian Patriots (River Ridge, LA), 13-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they host St. James for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 2. East Ascension will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 14-4 non-league win over Central Lafourche (Raceland, LA). The Wildcats record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, John Curtis Christian falls to 7-3 on the campaign. The Patriots host Edna Karr (New Orleans, LA) to battle the Cougars in a 5A District 9 challenge on Thursday, February 29. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 1-6. Edna Karr lost 16-0 in their recent league challenge against Mt. Carmel (New Orleans, LA)
