Sumner Stingrays (Riverview, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Plant Panthers (Tampa, FL), 8-3 in a league challenge.

The Stingrays now own a 4-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Parrish Community for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 4. Sumner will battle a Bulls squad coming off a 11-9 non-league win over Sarasota (Sarasota, FL). The Bulls record now stands at 2-0.

With the loss, Plant falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Panthers host Steinbrenner (Lutz, FL) to battle the Warriors in a 7A District 7 challenge on Tuesday, March 5. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. Steinbrenner won 9-2 in their recent league challenge against Riverview (Riverview, FL)
