Walnut Grove Wildcats (Prosper, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Wylie East Raiders (Wylie, TX), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now own a 14-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Permian for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 1. Walnut Grove will battle a Panthers squad coming off a 6-5 non-league loss to Azle (Azle, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 5-2.

With the loss, Wylie East falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Raiders host Sachse (Sachse, TX) to battle the Mustangs in a 6A Region II District 9 challenge on Tuesday, March 5. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 5-11. Sachse lost 12-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Plano West (Plano, TX)
