Independence Indees (Independence, WI) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Eleva-Strum Cardinals (Strum, WI), 49-48 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Independence upgrades its record to 5-14 on the campaign. The Indees travel to New Auburn (New Auburn, WI) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Trojans come into the bout with a record of 5-10. New Auburn won 64-55 in their recent league bout against Cornell (Cornell, WI)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Osseo-Fairchild Thunder (Osseo, WI) in a non-league bout, on Monday, February 6. Eleva-Strum will attempt to upgrade on its 2-15 season record. The Thunder come into the bout with a 11-9 record after their 62-59 league win over Bloomer (Bloomer, WI).
