The Newtown Nighthawks basketball team scored 58 points and held the visiting Bassick Lions to 39 in the Nighthawks non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Nighthawks now sport a 9-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host New Fairfield for a Southwest contest on Monday, February 5. Newtown will meet a Rebels team coming off a 58-38 league win over Joel Barlow (Redding, CT). The Rebels record now stands at 9-5.

The Lions (3-10) will now prepare for their contest against New Britain (New Britain, CT). The Golden Hurricanes enter the non-league contest with a 12-3 record. In their last contest, New Britain ran past Bloomfield (Bloomfield, CT), 55-45, in a non-league contest.
