The Cabell Midland Knights (Ona, WV) basketball nipped the visiting Greenbrier East Spartans (Lewisburg, WV), 49-45 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Knights (8-7) will now prepare for their test against Capital (Charleston, WV). The Cougars go into the Mountain State test with a 5-10 record. In their last test, Capital was tipped by Woodrow Wilson (Beckley, WV), 66-63, in a league test.
The Spartans now own a 9-5 record. They play next when they travel to James River Midlothian for a non-league test on Wednesday, February 8. Greenbrier East will encounter a Rapids squad coming off a 79-77 league win over Clover Hill (Midlothian, VA). The Rapids record now stands at 14-4.
