In Saturday's non-league outing, the Winnebago Indians (Winnebago, IL) basketball squad edged the host Eastland Cougars (Lanark, IL), by a margin of 44-40.

The Indians (16-10) will now prepare for their outing against Rockford Christian (Rockford, IL). The Royal Lions go into the Big Northern outing with a 25-1 record. In their last outing, Rockford Christian held off Byron (Byron, IL), 70-63, in a league outing.

The Cougars now own a 14-13 record. They play next when they host Forreston for a Northwest Upstate Illini - South outing on Wednesday, February 8. Eastland will clash with a Cardinals squad coming off a 65-57 non-league win over Aquin Catholic (Freeport, IL). The Cardinals record now stands at 11-15.
