Kentucky High School Basketball - Harlan County knocked off by Newport

February 4, 2023: Harlan, KY 40831

The Newport Wildcats basketball team scored 73 points and held the host Harlan County Black Bears to 58 in the Wildcats non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Wildcats now sport a 18-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Clinton-Massie for a non-league contest on Tuesday, February 7. Newport will meet a Falcons team coming off a 64-60 non-league win over Batavia (Batavia, OH). The Falcons record now stands at 8-13.

The Black Bears (12-4) will now prepare for their contest against Harlan (Harlan, KY). The Green Dragons enter the District 52 contest with a 16-2 record. In their last contest, Harlan ran past Clay County (Manchester, KY), 110-78, in a non-league contest.
