The Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) basketball crushed the host Putnam County Panthers (Granville, IL), 74-48 in Monday's non-league test.

The Comets (19-9) will now prepare for their test against Princeton (Princeton, IL). The Tigers go into the Three Rivers - East test with a 12-12 record. In their last test, Princeton walloped Ottawa (Ottawa, IL), 50-41, in a non-league test.

The Panthers now own a 6-22 record. They play next when they host Midland for a Tri-County test on Friday, February 9. Putnam County will encounter a Timberwolves squad coming off a 46-42 non-league loss to Cornerstone Christian (Bloomington, IL). The Timberwolves record now stands at 13-14.
