Newton Cardinals (Newton, IA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Webster City Lynx (Webster City, IA), 50-35 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 7-9 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Norwalk (Norwalk, IA) to clash with the Warriors in a Little Hawkeye bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 14-3. Norwalk won 65-57 in their recent league bout against Pella (Pella, IA)

Next up, the Lynx clash with the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets (Iowa Falls, IA) in a North Central bout, on Tuesday, February 6. Webster City will attempt to upgrade on its 6-11 season record. The Cadets go into the bout with a 5-14 record after their 55-32 league loss to Webster City (Webster City, IA).
